In the current job market, there is a disconnect between the expectations of graduates and employers.

This impacts talent acquisition, retention, and workforce productivity, consequently hindering the progress of the nation as a hub for high-skilled professionals.

Malaysia needs at least 45% of high-skilled workers by 2030 to compete with leading countries and currently, only 26.5% of them are representing the nation’s workforce.

To ensure that we are not stuck in a low-skilled, low-wage workforce, it is our collective responsibility to develop highly skilled and technologically-adept young talents to move towards a more high-value added economy.

Our Youth Initiative Employment (YEI) Networking Event, that took place in September 2023, was an information hub on various industries, companies, and roles that are considered high-skilled for students’ consideration.

It was also a platform for employers to provide recent graduates and interns with high-skilled roles.

We encouraged an open communication between employers and Gen Zs to discuss on what Gen Zs want in the workplace.

Through exploring the unique perspectives, needs and values of Generation Z in the workplace, Kabel is building bridges between the older and newer generations to shape the future of work and moving towards creating a workplace environment that caters to the unique needs and expectations of the younger generation.
